We are pleased to announce the line-up for  Larkin Square’s original flagship event, KeyBank Live at Larkin Wednesday concert series. Attracting thousands each week throughout the summer with a wide range of sounds that showcases the diversity of the local music scene. Plus, of course, a selection of food trucks and beverages to boot. Concerts are from 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM.

Returning for a sixth season beginning June 7th KeyBank Live at Larkin will welcome a 30-band combination of established local acts, young up-and-comers, both new and returning theme nights, and as usual, a few homecomings and reunions. The 14-week series is bookended by reunions, as Opening Night features reunited reggae ensemble One World Tribe with upstart soul group Empress & the Royals, and the finale again reunites blues-soul powerhouse Dive House Union along with blues legend Jony James Band.

Weeks in between include new theme nights Blues 4 Vets, Grateful Dead Cornell ‘77 Revisited, Colored Musicians Club Centennial, Viva Elvis and Music is Art Festival Preview, along with returning favorites Latin at Larkin and South Buffalo Night. The remaining lineup offers the traditional two-band feature; all concerts will conclude with the continued Larkin tradition of a collaboration between bands. Full lineup below.

We’re excited for our sixth season of KeyBank Live at Larkin, which has for us been a perfect way to spend a summer night in Buffalo. While Tuesdays are more a food truck event with live music, Wednesdays are more a live music concert with food trucks. We appreciate the support of KeyBank and Independent Health that allows free admission and parking for all these events.

Live at O’Larkin 3.17.17

By Leslie Zemsky
March 03, 2017

olarkin_nieman_017Join us in Larkin Square on Friday, March 17 from 5-8pm for the fifth annual KeyBank Live at O’Larkin!

For the first time in its five-year history, one of Buffalo’s newest St. Patrick’s traditions will fall on the actual holiday in 2017, as Larkin Square will again welcome the public to an Irish-American celebration with live Celtic music and dance along with food trucks and drinks.

This year, KeyBank Live at O’Larkin will feature the familiar faces of Celtic rockers McCarthyizm, traditional folk trio Emerald Isle, students from Clann Na Cara School of Irish Dance, and the first responders of Greater Buffalo Firefighters Pipes & Drums, all performing individual sets along with an encore ensemble jam on the square’s covered and heated boardwalk. Drinks will also be served on the boardwalk and in the Square along with food from over a dozen food trucks.

As always, this family-friendly event is free, including free parking, and open to all, presented by KeyBank and sponsored by Independent Health.

With more theme nights and more acts than ever including 24 of 38 making their Live at Larkin debut, Larkin Square will celebrate its fifth summer of free Wednesday concerts with another diverse collection of Buffalo-bred musical acts.

Beginning earlier than ever with a wild June 1st kickoff, Live at Larkin will again offer 14 Wednesdays of at least two bands, complete with its signature collaborative encore in which the acts perform together for a uniquely fun finale.

Just a few highlights of the series include a six-act Opening Night headlined by annual favorites John and Mary & the Valkyries, with each act representing at least one local music nonprofit organization; new theme nights in “Buffalo ’66: Cash & Stones Revisited” marking the 50th anniversary of the week in which both legends performed in Buffalo (June 29th), “Latin at Larkin” complete with dance lessons before each band (July 6th), and “Sinatra’s Second Century” featuring a look both back and forward on the Frank Sinatra songbook (August 24th); and a rare performance for closing night from special-occasion supergroup The Buffalovebirds (August 31st).

Admission is free. Free parking available along with $5 premium parking in the ramp behind Larkin Square. Each event also features food trucks, beverages for purchase and an occasional visit from community groups.

Thank you to Presenting Sponsor First Niagara and Sponsor Independent Health for Buffalo’s best night for music, food and fun!
