We love December in Buffalo! This first weekend of December is shaping up to be a fun one! Thanks to Buffalo Rising and the Buffalo News Gusto for always providing great ideas for big and small activities around town! This weekend I have a friend coming to Buffalo from NYC. I am excited to show off Buffalo at its winter finest! We just need a dusting of snow to complete the holiday wonderland! We suggest starting in Larkinville on Friday and going from there! Here is our suggested holiday weekend game plan..its all about local eating, drinking, shopping and entertainment!
The weekend starts in Larkinville:
5 – 8 Holiday Live at Larkin. Enjoy original holiday music by the local musicians who come together once a year under the name Robot Holiday! Adding to the fun will be a curated local holiday market on the Boardwalk, local food provided by all the Food Trucks! Refresh with a glass of Flying Bison beer, brewed down the street at Flying Bison Brewery. ( they are open until 8pm and again on Saturday if you want to stop by there too for a taste and tour!)
From Larkin Square the options are plentiful:
4:30 – 11pm Hydraulic Hearth Celebrate the repeal of Prohibition and Larkinville’s role in this! Join the ceremonial procession of rolling the kegs from the old Larkin Terminal Warehouse ( now Larkin at Exchange Building) across the street to the Hydraulic Hearth at 716 Swan St.
5 – 9 pm Friday ( 11am – 6 pm Sat. & Sun) Holiday Open Studios and Galleries Find a printable map here of many locations to stop by.
6 – 9 pm Allentown First Friday Galleries on and near Allen Street open for their monthly gallery walk.
10 am – 10 pm First Friday at the Albright-Knox. Free Admission!
5 – 9 pm Friday, (11am – 4 pm Saturday) Hertel Holidays Stroll the shops of Hertel Ave. More opening all the time!
Saturday:
If you were not able to fit in all the fun on Friday night, plenty of opportunity to still partake on Saturday! We suggest starting your Saturday with:
11am – 3 pm Brunch and Brooze at the Hydraulic Hearth in collaboration with Bread Hive Bakery. The ladies from Bread Hive take over the brick oven to freshly bake bagels and offer them up with lots of toppings. Hydraulic Hearth is serving up delicious brunch drinks along with tea and locally roasted Pubic Coffee. Live music and a great casual vibe.
Have a great weekend!
